Standing By Your Truth

Last Week…

Last week, the Crow card was revealed. The crow asked us to increase our self-awareness this week and own our truth. The crow hinted that our truth may be the key to finding the balance we are ultimately seeking in life.

For me, my truth is my authentic self. It’s me minus all the crap that I’ve accumulated over the years. The junk that told me what I should be rather than recognizing who I am. This has been the greatest gift during this time, quarantine has provided the space for me to hear my truth. It’s provided me the time to sort through and remove the junk, kind of like a quarantine cleanse.

Sacred Weekends

I have spent many years taking my weekends for granted. As an introvert, I found that weekends were filled with social gatherings and outings with more people than I preferred. The entire weekend process was never personally restorative, it was more so just another day of the week with more stuff I needed to do.

In the last few months, I have been working on being more intentional. Creating time and space that is sacred. This includes my nights when I can and my weekends. There have been too many solemn reminders already this year that life is too short and tomorrow is never promised. As shared in one of my favorite books of all time, The Slight Edge by Jeff Olsen, we cannot control time. Therefore we have only two options, we can make time work for us or against us.

I choose to make time work for me by being intentional. I hope you choose to do the same.

Me Minus You

Last Week…

Last week, the Cat card was revealed. Bringing the challenge for the week to look at our relationships as well as ourselves. To embrace this time of physical boundaries to explore what life is like when we can truly separate ourselves from others.

This is an active struggle for me since I am someone that apparently loves to put everyone else before myself. I’ve neglected my own personal needs and as a result, am having to undo by healing the damage of self-sabotage. Throughout the years, I’ve worked with personal coaches and counselors, with the challenge always being the same. I don’t set boundaries and even when I do, I don’t respect them. And if I don’t respect them, how could I ever expect anyone else to?

Seeking A Silver Lining

Last Week…

The Dolphin card was revealed challenging us to seek a silver lining in time of suffering. At the time, I easily translated the card’s message to our current COVID-19 circumstances. But as the week continued, I dove a little deeper into the ocean of reflection and revisited other times in my life that were filled with suffering. Events from my past that I had never actually recognized as times of suffering, but I was indeed suffering. These were experiences that left me feeling broken. These experiences were also the ones that pushed me to great growth.

Work Love Speaks To A Journey

Work…”an activity involving mental or physical effort done in order to achieve a purpose or result.”

Love…“is the essential existential fact. It is our ultimate reality and our purpose on earth. To be consciously aware of it, to experience love in ourselves and others, is the meaning of life.”

-Marianne Williamson, Return to Love

Work Love speaks to a journey. A journey that I have come to call my HRart journey. HRart representing the intimate relationship I recognize and embrace between my work and my purpose.

HR Dragon Coloring Book

The other day, I fell into the pit of distraction, otherwise known as Pinterest. My recommended Pinterest feed is very diverse, as it is a compilation of tattoo designs, children’s art activities, yin yoga flows, and gluten-free recipes. But on this particular day, it was a doodle that captured my attention, a how-to doodle a dragon to be exact.

In a matter of minutes, Harptoons had me hooked and I had four dragon doodles I was quite proud of. So, just for fun, I created this HR Dragon Coloring Book, in hopes to inspire you to get your creative coloring on.
